About Us

J. Tom Brink is the founder and owner of Top Dollar Angus, Inc. Brink is well known throughout the U.S. beef industry, and has earned a reputation as one of the foremost experts on beef production and supply chain economics. He spent 14 years in the cattle feeding business in various leadership positions at JBS Five Rivers Cattle Feeding and ContiBeef, one of its predecessor companies. From 2008 through 2013, Brink was President and COO of J & F Oklahoma Holdings, Inc., the cattle ownership sister company to Five Rivers. From 2003 through 2013, he was in charge of feeder cattle procurement and risk management for a growing cattle feeding business that eventually procured and marketed over 1.6 million head per year. He has conducted extensive research on the factors that create valuable cattle both in the feedyard and from a carcass standpoint, and has been a featured speaker throughout the nation on these and other beef industry topics.

Brink often states that success in the feedyard and packing plant requires feeder cattle that do three things well: (1) Stay healthy, (2) Grow fast and efficiently, and (3) Reach a high quality grade.

Prior employment history also includes Cattle-Fax (Director of Market Research) and the American Gelbvieh Association (Executive Director). Brink grew up in Kansas with a cow-calf background and is a graduate of Kansas State University with degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics.

Brink founded Top Dollar Angus, Inc. after leaving his position with J & F Oklahoma Holdings, Inc. in September 2013. Top Dollar Angus is one of the first genetic certification providers for commercial feeder cattle, and the only one focused exclusively on Angus and Angus-based cattle/calves with Top 25% growth and carcass traits.

Kenny Stauffer is the new General Manager of Top Dollar Angus. Kenny and his wife (Misty) and two teenage daughters (Jacque and Delanee) recently moved to Colorado. Prior to their move Kenny and his family lived in Western Nebraska. Kenny spent the last 17 years as General Manager of Hoot Owl Ranches LLC. While at the ranch his leadership and innovation helped grow the ranch from 400 acres, 40 pairs, and 25 horses to a multi-million dollar operation consisting of 16,000 acres, 650 commercial Angus cows, 150 registered Angus, American Angus Test herd, a Wagyu direct sales meat business, 1000 head feedyard, and a very aggressive Angus seedstock business. Over his career Kenny has become very passionate about beef genetics, beef marketing, and customer relations.

Kenny is a graduate of the Nebraska LEAD program, LEAD 25, where he traveled to New Zealand and Australia to study the differences in agriculture compared to that of the United States. Kenny, Misty and Hoot Owl Ranch were the hosts of the 2014 Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska, where they raised 1.2 million for cancer research and hosted 3800 people at the ranch for 2 days. Kenny and Misty were selected as Citizens of the Year in 2014. Recently Kenny and Misty accompanied Gov. Ricketts on a trade mission to the European Union to promote Nebraska Beef. Kenny and his wife Misty were also selected as “Top 10 Beef Industry Leaders Under 40” by Cattle Business Weekly 2015. Kenny was recently nominated into the YCC program through Nebraska Cattleman and serves as president of the local NC affiliate.
